Note: The Takeoff Edit selections are available in Takeoff File Maintenance only.
Note: Some Edit selections (Edit, Cut, Copy, Paste, Add, Delete) can also be accessed by clicking the right mouse button once on a highlighted item. This displays a menu of these choices.
VIEWS: Displays the Takeoff views menu (Maintenance, Options, Picture, etc.). The Takeoff views are discussed in Takeoff Screen Views.
Note: The Views selection is only available when the Edit menu is accessed by a secondary mouse click in TFM.
UNDO: This
command or Toolbar button reverses the last editing action, if possible.
The Undo
selection states what editing action it will undo. Undo Paste is shown in the
Edit
menu example above; this may show Undo
Cut, Undo
Design Spec, etc., depending on the last editing action.
After use, the button and menu selection become inactive until the next
editing action or Takeoff entry.
SELECT ALL: The Edit > Select All
option or Toolbar button alternately selects and de-selects all items.
EDIT: This
selection from the Edit
pull-down menu lets you edit or change the item information. See Editing
An Item in the Takeoff File
Maintenance topic.
FIND: The Find function will search
the file for the entered word, phrase, number, or any combination thereof
in any field. The Find window contains standard Windows search options.
This will find and select
the next instance of the characters entered in the Find field.
This will find and select
all instances of the characters entered in the Find field.
Note: When using the find window to filter Takeoff, the Find function button on the toolbar will remain depressed until the find filter is deactivated.
FIND NEXT: This will find
and select the next instance of the characters entered in the Find field.
CUT:
Edit
> Cut removes the currently selected item(s) from the file and
puts it (them) on the clipboard. This command is unavailable if there
is no data currently selected.
Cutting data to the clipboard replaces the contents previously stored there. The item(s) can then be pasted to another takeoff file (or back into the current takeoff file) or left as deleted.
COPY: Use the
Edit > Copy
command to copy the currently selected item(s) from the file and puts
it (them) on the clipboard. This command is unavailable if there is no
data currently selected.
Copying data to the clipboard replaces the contents previously stored there. The item(s) can then be pasted to another takeoff file.
PASTE: Use
this command to insert a copy of the clipboard contents (a result of using
the Cut or Copy command) at the insertion point. This command is unavailable
if the clipboard is empty.
ADD ITEM: The
Add command
from the Edit
pull-down menu lets you add an item. The Add command is explained in Adding An Item in the Takeoff
File Maintenance topic.
INSERT ITEM: The
Insert Item
command from the Edit
pull-down menu lets you insert an item between two existing items.
LOOKUP: The Edit > Lookup function allows
you to search the Electrical Databook for items. These items can be taken
off once found. See Using Lookup.
Note: Lookup can also be accessed in single item takeoff by pressing the Size/Lookup key (on the PowerPad) in the Item Number window box.
TRASER PRO: You
can import items from TraSer Pro into their specials (if TraSer Pro is
installed. After selecting a special, pressing the
button on the toolbar begins the process. After selecting items in TraSer
Pro, pressing the “Link Export” button sends these items back to takeoff.
You will then have the opportunity to select which pricing column you
wish to use (by right-clicking on a pricing column header) before adding
the items to your specials.
DELETE: The
Edit > Delete
command or Toolbar button allows you to delete an item or items from a
Takeoff file. See Deleting An Item in the
Takeoff File Maintenance topic.
DELETE ASSEMBLY:Edit > Delete Assembly will delete the assembly currently selected assembly and all it’s child items.
UPDATE LIKE ASSEMBLIES: To update all assemblies of the same menu, key, and size (if the assembly has size tables) that are currently shown in takeoff select Edit > Update Like Assemblies. Items will be added, removed and quantities changed according to the selected assembly.
DESIGN SPEC: Application
of a Design Specification is as easy as point-and-click. See the Applying
Design Specifications To Existing Takeoff topic (under Takeoff
File Maintenance).
COST LABOR RATE: Allows you to select the value for the cost labor rate.
TAKEOFF NOTE: or
Edit > Takeoff
Note adds a Takeoff Note
(254-character maximum) to the list of items in the Maintenance View.
These notes are viewed in the Maintenance View and can be printed in the
Summary reports.
INSERT TAKEOFF NOTE: Inserts a Takeoff Note above the selected Takeoff Item.
ATTACH FILE:
The Edit > File
Attachment, or secondary mouse click and Add
File, selection allows you to add notes to the Takeoff file. These
files can be a text file, Word document, Excel file, etc. Files can also
be dragged from their present location into the Maintenance View by primary
mouse clicking the file and, while holding the primary mouse button, dragging
it onto the Maintenance View pane.
IMPORT CAD: This
function is only available after using the CAD Manager function to import
a Select CAD section into the Electrical program. If the CAD Manager C700
program is loaded on your system, you can refer to the CAD Manager C700
Help file for instructions.
