Editing a Summary Item

Any of the item information can be changed.

  1. Select the item you want to edit by using the keyboard arrow keys or a mouse to highlight it.

  2. Click the mouse directly on the part of the item that you want to edit to edit the item in place or

  1. The Edit window displays for the item selected. Use the Tab key to move from field to field. Change any of the fields you want.

Notes:

    • See the "Edit Summary Item Fields" section for explanations of the fields in this window.

    • If you change the Quantity or any of the Adjustments, the program will warn you (upon exiting Edit Summary Item) that Changes to Quantity and/or Adjustments are not retained in the Estimate Pricing File. If you re-run Summary, these changes will be lost.

On the Summary screen, the Net Price flag can be set or cleared for multiple items in a single operation.

Note: The checkmark status of the Edit Net Priced dialog defaults to that of the first selected item. This dialog updates the status of the items in the screen view.
All of the selected items will have their Net Price flags either checked or cleared, and the view will update.

  1. When you are finished editing the item, click OK to return to SFM. If you decide not to save the changes you made to the item, click Cancel. Notice that the amounts in the Status Bar have been updated (the Status Bar update applies to editing an item in place on the grid as well as editing an item in the item “Edit” window).

Notes:

    • Changes made to Labor and Material values while in the Combined All – Estimate File Pricing report will become the default edited value used by Summary.  This means that any item that has had their Labor and/or Material values edited will be drawn from the Estimate Price File instead of Databook.  This behavior also supersedes any options set in the Pricing tab during the creation of additional Summary Reports.  For example, a Summary will continue to use the edited value from the Estimate Price File even when a different pricing option is selected for Material or Labor (on just those edited items).

    • Upon returning to the SFM window, an edited amount is shown in blue. This allows you to easy identify items that have had material units or labor units changed and that you might want to update in the Databook (using the Update Databook function; see "Update Databook")

    • To edit just a single field for an item or series of items, select the item(s) you want to edit, then right-click the header that you want to edit. Select the Edit Column option. You will be allowed to modify only the field on which you double-clicked. For example, if two items are selected and you right-click on Mat Unit and select "Edit Column: Mat Unit", the Edit window displays, with the cursor at the Material Unit field for the first item. Notice that all of the other fields are inactive. You could enter a new material unit of .075 (notice that the Material Extended amount is recalculated as you enter the new amount), select [OK]. The SFM screen displays showing a material unit of .075 for the selected items and the Material total in the Status Bar has been recalculated. This type of editing is only allowed for the following fields: Qty, Mtl Unit, Mtl Adj, Lbr Unit, and Lbr Adj.
