Using Shape Recognition

After you have familiarized yourself with the Shape Recognition tab and adjusted your settings, you are ready to use the Shape Recognition tool.

To find and take off objects with Shape Recognition:

  1. While in the Digital Takeoff Application, click on the Shape Recognition tab to bring up the Shape Recognition Count Worksheet.

  2. Identify and/or activate the shapes you wish find with Shape Recognition using the Search Parameters window.

  3. If desired, use the Crop Processing Area tool to select an area of your Count Worksheet that you wish to scan.  Scanning an area instead of the entire Count Worksheet will speed up processing time.

  4. Click Process Image to begin looking for objects. Processing time will vary depending on the size of your Count Worksheet image, as well as the size of the selected area (if using the Crop Processing Area tool). If you wish to stop looking for objects, select Stop Process from the Options menu. Shape Recognition will highlight found objects in blue.

  5. Use the Shape Recognition Tools to add objects to the Takeoff Group.

  6. Select one of the images in the Searched Images section.

  7. Choose Select Matches (just above the drawing image). You can choose to add or remove selections from this current number of objects highlighted. Takeoff Group objects are highlighted in yellow. A current count of the objects is shown in the bottom status bar.

  8. Next, click Takeoff Objects. The Takeoff Group objects will be highlighted in blue-white, indicating that they have been annotated in your Takeoff Sheet Image.

  9. Switch to Standard Takeoff and takeoff the count objects as you would in Digital Takeoff.

Note:  Once objects have been taken off and highlighted, they can no longer be removed from the Shape Recognition Count Worksheet.
