Edit (SFM)

Some Edit selections can also be accessed by clicking the secondary mouse button once on a highlighted item. This displays a menu of the available choices.

UNDO   This command or Tool bar button reverses the last editing action, if possible. The Undo selection states what editing action it will undo. Undo Edit Item is shown in the Edit menu above; this will state the appropriate editing action. After use, the button and menu selection become inactive until the next editing action.

SELECT ALL   The Edit > Select All option or Tool bar button alternately selects and de-selects all items.

FIND The Find function will search the file for the entered word, phrase, number, or any combination thereof in any field. The “Find” window contains standard Windows search options.

This will find and select the next instance of the characters entered in the Find field.

FIND NEXT This will find and select the next instance of the characters entered in the Find field.

EDIT   This selection from the Edit pull-down menu lets you edit or change the item information. See Editing a Summary Item for how to edit an item in the Summary file.

MATERIAL, LABOR:  These selections allow you to change the unit used in the Summary file.

The choices for Material include:

Databook Primary: the item's Material Unit from the Databook is used;

Databook Discounted: Material Discount from the Databook;

Estimate Pricing File: material unit from the Estimate Pricing File;

Edited Price: inactive until the material unit has been changed; once changed, that new price is shown when this is selected.

The choices for Labor include:

Databook Unit: the item's Labor Unit from the Databook is used;

Databook Alt Unit: Alternate Labor Unit from the Databook;

Estimate Pricing File: labor unit from the Estimate Pricing File;

Edited Price: inactive until the Labor Unit has been changed; once changed, that new amount is shown when this is selected.

All of these options will not always be available for all items, e.g., Specials do not have Discounted or Alternate units.

Shown in parentheses next to each Databook pricing choice is the pricing service or type of prices currently being used in the Databook (except for Databook Discounted, as a pricing service is not applicable to it).

UPC, VENDOR CODE, BUYER CODE, LABOR CODE:  These selections allow you to change the applicable pricing code used in the Summary file. The choices for each of these pricing codes include:

Data Code: the item's code from the Databook is used;

Estimate Pricing File: the code from the Estimate Pricing File;

Edited Code: inactive until the code has been changed; once changed, that new code is shown when this is selected.

UPC, Vendor Code, Buyer Code, and Labor Code are only shown in the Edit menu that is accessed with a secondary mouse click on an item or items.

X-REF: This allows you to cross-reference similar items from different manufacturers.

GET EXTENDED DATA: This allows you to retrieve more data about an item from the internet.

DELETE The Edit > Delete command allows you to delete an item or items from a Summary file. See Deleting Summary Items.

UPDATE DATABOOK This selection allows you to update the prices in the Databook, as you make changes here in SFM. See Update Databook (SFM).

UPDATE ESTIMATE PRICING FILE This Edit selection allows you to update the prices in the Estimate Pricing File, as you make changes here in SFM. See Update Estimate Pricing File.

ANALYZE   This function compares the selected items to the entire Summary file and shows in a pie chart and in numbers the value of the selected items versus the total of all the items. See Analyze (SFM).
