Note: This example uses the Summary folder. The procedures for Analyze in the Subtotals and Phases folders are similar, however.
This example performs the analysis after you sort and select items.
1. Price all of your manual and quote items.
2. Sort by Material Descending.
3. Select (highlight) the most expensive items.
4. Select Edit >> Analyze or . Pie charts display showing the ratio of selected items' material and labor amounts to the total Summary amounts.
5. Select OK to return to SFM. Leave the previously selected items highlighted.
6. Now, sort by Labor Ext - Descending. Notice that even though the file has been re-sorted, the items you selected previously as the most expensive material extended items are still selected.
7. Use the Ctrl key with the mouse to select (highlight) the most expensive labor items while leaving the previously selected items still highlighted.
8. Select Edit >> Analyze or . The pie charts show the ratio of selected items' material and labor amounts to the total Summary amounts.
9. Once you have the items selected, you can print just those to review both the material prices and labor units for the items that comprise the majority of the Estimate. See Sort Profile Printing Example for how to print selected items.
