Note: Although this example uses the Summary folder, the procedures for Analyze in the Subtotals and Phases folders are similar.
This analysis is performed by using the percentage fields in the Analyze window. It is the quickest of the two methods.
1. Price all of your Labor Descending items.
2. Select Edit >> Analyze or . The Analyze window displays. It contains pie charts that show the ratio of selected items' material and labor amounts to the total Summary amounts. Since the object of the Analyze feature is to find the items that comprise the majority of the Estimate, the fastest way to do this is to enter a high percentage in the Select Material % and Select Labor % fields.
3. Enter 90 for Select Material % and 75 for Select Labor %.
4. Select OK. The program finds and selects enough items in the Summary file to meet the percentage and returns to the SFM window with those items selected.
5. Select Edit >> Analyze or again to see the updated Analyze window. The program will find at least the percentages entered.
6. When you are satisfied with the Analyze percentage, you can print just the selected items to review both the material prices and labor units for the items that comprise the majority of the Estimate. See Sort Profile Printing Example for how to print selected items.
