Updating a Summary
A Summary is updated using the
function in the Open Summary window.
The Update
function is used when a Takeoff file has changed (items added, quantities
changed, etc.) and/or when Estimate Pricing File has changed. A changed
Takeoff file is indicated with the icon under the TO
column in Open Summary. Similarly, a changed Estimate Pricing File is
indicated with the
icon under the $
column. You must re-run Summary to ensure it contains all of the information
in the updated Takeoff file and Estimate Pricing File.
The Update function finds all Takeoff changes that match the breakout you defined for the Summary. For example, the Summary was previously run including a breakout of Drawings 1, 2, and 3. Then, Takeoff was modified to include Drawings 4 and 5, with changes to Section 3. When Update is run, the program will update only those items in Summary for Drawing 3. Drawings 4 and 5 were not included in the Summary breakout, so the additional Takeoff entries in those Drawings do not affect the Summary.
If you want the Summary to include additional Drawings,
you must either modify the properties of the summary or create a new Summary
and select all of the appropriate levels, sub-levels, and descriptions
within those levels. See Creating
a New Summary. If you modify a Summary's properties, the
changed Properties are indicated with the icon under
the Properties column.
