Single Line Takeoff
Single Line Takeoff (SLT) is a more efficient way of taking off your drawings; like the ability to take off multiple elbows in a run of like-dimension pipe.
To activate SLT, go toFile > Options >
Takeoff Options > Styles tab. Alternately,
you can double-click on Single
Line Takeoff on your Options
Bar (click if in-place
editing is turned on).
The Single Line Takeoff Options window will appear. Select the Single Line Takeoff check box at the top, and takeoff your items to begin taking off in Single Line mode.
The letters from the Takeoff Menu will appear for the items.
The Single Line Takeoff allows you to define what keys are used for Pipe, 90-degree elbows, and 45-degree elbows. The image below shows the Pipe Key is set to 'a', the 90-degree elbow is set to 'f', and the 45-degree elbow is set to 'e'.
In the AutoFit Settings section, you can define what keys are used for the Pipe Key, Fitting Key and Reducing Fitting Key.
Each key on the Trimble Estimation menus contain two states, Normal and Shifted. When you press the Shift key(: on your computer keyboard), or switch to the Shifted menu, you can take off these alternate keys. If you want the Shifted items (from the shifted menu), check the box next to Shifted. The Shifted checkbox is not checked by default.
The by
Snap Angles allows you to designate your snap angles, or the margin of
error you want an angle to fall within. Select the minimum
and maximum angles that you want either 45 or 90-degrees to fall within.
CONSOLIDATE TAKEOFF: This options is for hangers and joint calculation. If this is checked, when processing the run of single line takeoff, all pipes, 90 degree elbows, and 45 degree elbows will consolidate into one line item each.
For example: If you takeoff 2’ of pipe, an elbow, 3’ of pipe, another elbow, and 1’ of pipe, you would end up with 3 hangers. That many hangers is too many for 6' of pipe. With Consolidate Takeoff active, the program would only takeoff 1 hanger, which is the correct amount.
Once you are finished with the Single Line Takeoff Options, select OK.
