Takeoff Screen Bars

In addition to screen Views, the Mechanical Series program provides several “bars” that can be used to configure your Takeoff window to suit your preferences. The Bars menu is accessed by clicking once with the secondary mouse button in a Takeoff screen bar or under View on the menu bar.

TOOLBAR: Will display the tool bar, which enables easy access to program functions with the use of icons.

STATUS BAR: Displays the status bar, which is found at the very bottom of the screen and displays various information, such as the current Dataset you are in and the current menu you are using. For information on configuring the Status Bar, see Status Bar Options.

PICTURE BAR: Shows a picture of the currently selected item (if available).

3D BAR: Shows a 3D model of the currently selected item (if available).

OPTIONS BAR: Takeoff options, which include Quantity, Formula, Multiplier, Size, etc. The settings on this bar apply only to the section you are currently working in. To set options for multiple sections, or the entire estimate file, see Takeoff Options.

Selecting Apply To Selected Items while right-clicking on an individual option will apply it only to selected Takeoff Items. Meanwhile, right-clicking on an option group header and selecting Apply To Selected Items will apply the entire grouping of options.

MENU BAR: This option displays a layout of the keys in a given menu on the screen. Items displayed can then be taken off by clicking on the buttons displayed.

NOTE BAR: When this option is activated, you can enter in and save notes regarding Takeoff.

SNAPSHOT BAR: Opens a bar that can be used to save and load snapshots.
