The Options tab allows you to set many of the default settings for an item. The more information that you have here, the less information you will have to provide for each item when taking an item off, given the item matches whatever defaults are set.
MANAGE LEVELS BY: This menu allows you to choose how your levels are displayed in the window below.
Note: The drop-down list under Manage Levels By can be used to select a Level Type to use when managing options (instead of a Section). If the Level Type is blank, the active Section options are used. So, when making changes to Level Type options, your changes will only apply to sections that have not yet been entered in takeoff. If Section options are not defined, the Job/Estimate defaults are used when entering Takeoff.
RETAIN ACTIVE LEVELS BETWEEN SECTIONS: This option, when checked, will cause your active Levels to remain active when switching to another Section.
MENU: Modify this
selection to choose the default Takeoff Menu. Select a Takeoff Menu by
using to display a drop-down
menu. Use

to scroll
through the Menu descriptions. Select the Takeoff Menu you want to use
by highlighting it. The screen is updated with your selection.
CATEGORY:Modify
this selection to choose the Category. Select a Category by using the
to display a drop-down menu. Use

the Category descriptions. Select the Category you want to use by highlighting
it. The screen is updated with your selection.
EQUIPMENT CATEGORY:The
setting here is the default Category from which equipment items will be
taken. An Equipment Category is selected by using the on
the right of the field to display a drop-down menu. Use

the Categories. Select the Equipment Category you want to use. The screen
is updated with your selection.
ACCESSORIES CATEGORY:This
is the Category where accessory items can be found. Select an Accessories
Category by using the on
the right of the field to display a drop-down menu. Use
and
to scroll through
the Categories. Select the Accessories Category you want to use. The screen
is updated with your selection.
DETAILED EQUIPMENT:When
marked, the Detailed Equipment option allows you to map categories other
than the Equipment category to the Equipment key in Takeoff. The Equipment
Category field becomes inactive when the Detailed Equipment option is
marked. When you select a
window displays where you can map the Equipment keys to other categories
(e.g., A = Fan Coil Units, B = RTUs, etc.). So in Takeoff, when you select
the Equipment menu key, the categories you map here will display for the
equipment keys.
Detailed equipment is set-up using similar procedures as described for Detailed Accessories.
DETAILED ACCESSORIES:The
Detailed Accessories option, when marked, allows you to set-up categories
other than the Accessories category for use with the Accessories key in
Takeoff. When Detailed Accessories is marked, the Accessories Category
field becomes inactive. displays
a window where you can map the Accessories keys to other categories (e.g.,
A = Grilles, B = Diffusers, etc.). So, when you select the Accessories
Takeoff menu key in Takeoff, the categories you map here will display
for the accessories keys.
When you are finished making changes, select OK. If you do not want the changes that were made to be saved, select CANCEL.
SCALE:The program uses the scale setting to translate entries made using the Distance Wheel on the Probe or using the Stylus with the Digitizer. A numeric entry can be made using either the PowerPad or the Probe. The program takes any entry by the Count button as a numeric (or "literal") entry, but an entry by the Distance Wheel is assumed to be a scale entry.
Note: If you are not going to use a digitizer or the Probe's Distance Wheel, you don't have to set a scale.
The scale may be reset at any time during Takeoff. Use the Scale function key to display the Scale menu.
To change
the scale, select to display the
Scale Selection window.
Enter what the scale would be from his blueprints, e.g. ¼” = 10’ or 25mm = 1m.
Note: Custom If the plans do not follow a printed scale (the blueprints were shrunk or enlarged; for example), you can choose to measure off a length from the prints. That length will be entered in the left-hand side of the scale window
When you are finished making changes, select OK. If you do not want the changes that were made to be saved, select CANCEL.
UOM:This is the default unit of measure for the Duct Length and Other Dimensions. When adding or editing an item, unless a unit of measure is specified, the unit of measure set here will be applied to the item.

FORMULA:You
may use one of your pre-defined formulas to calculate quantity, instead
of entering the quantity. A formula uses the dimensions that are set to
calculate the correct quantity. If any of the dimensions needed by the
formula are set to 0, the program prompts you to enter values for them
during Takeoff. Select a Formula by using to
display a drop-down menu. Use
and
to scroll through the Formulas. Select the
Formula you want to use. The screen is updated with your selection.
CURRENT QUANTITY: This value is automatically generated and cannot be edited.
DEFAULT QUANTITY: This is the default quantity used for items. The value will be used for every item you take off (unless you change it while in Takeoff using the Qty key, in which case Quantity will default back to this value after every assembly or item is taken off; any changes in Takeoff only hold for the next item/assembly taken off). To change the Quantity, type in a new value in the Quantity field.
Note:Current Quantity is the quantity you will see when entering takeoff. Default Quantity is the value the quantity will be set to after taking off an item.
MULTIPLIER:The Multiplier field allows you to enter a number which will multiply all quantities taken off.
MATERIAL FACTOR:This is the default value for the Material Factor. When adding or editing an item, unless a Material Factor is specified in the Factors drop-down menu, the Material Factor set here will be applied to the item.
This selection lets you enter a factor which will be multiplied by all material units taken off.
FIELD LABOR FACTOR:This is the default value for the Field Factor. When adding or editing an item, unless a Field Factor is specified in the Factors drop-down menu, the Field Factor set here will be applied to the item.

SHOP LABOR FACTOR:This is the default value for the Shop Factor. When adding or editing an item, unless a Shop Factor is specified in the Factors drop-down menu, the Shop Factor set here will be applied to the item.

USER DEF 1 FACTOR:This is the default value for the User Defined 1 Factor. When adding or editing an item, unless a User Defined 1 Factor is specified in the Factors drop-down menu, the User Defined 1 Factor set here will be applied to the item.
This selection lets you enter a factor which will be multiplied by all user defined 1 units taken off
LINEAR FT FACTOR:This is the default value for the Linear Ft Factor. When adding or editing an item, unless a Linear Ft Factor is specified in theFactorsdrop-down menu, the Linear Ft Factor set here will be applied to the item.
This selection lets you enter a factor which will be multiplied by all Linear Ft units taken off.
Note: In HVAC, User Defined 2 is automatically configured to display as Linear Ft. For information on how to change this setting, go to Edit User Defined Names in the Edit section of the Data File Maintenance Functions topic of the manual.
DEDUCT:This selection is a checkbox which turns the Deduct feature on and off. When Deduct is marked, everything you take off is subtracted from the Estimate. This feature is used primarily to correct mistakes in takeoff. Deduct can be turned on and off in Takeoff. If the Deduct selection is marked, select it to un-mark it, and vice versa.
When you are finished making changes in the takeoff options, select OK. If you do not want the changes that were made to be saved, select CANCEL.
