Open Summary Fields

The following example shows what each field in the Open Summary means.

JOB: This field shows the Job that was last active when you were in Takeoff. If this is not the Job which contains the Estimates you want to run Summary with, use to display the other Jobs available and make another selection by highlighting a Job.

ESTIMATE:  This field displays the Estimate files located in the Job selected in the field above.  If this is not the Estimate which you want to run Summary with, use to display the other Estimates available and make another selection by highlighting an Estimate.

TOTAL ENTRIES IN ESTIMATE: The total number of Takeoff entries in the selected Estimate file.

SUMMARY STATUS: This is the largest area of the Open Summary window, which, once a Summary has been run, shows pertinent information about that Summary:

Summary Number (#): This is a sequence number automatically assigned to a Summary.

Takeoff (TO): The PowerPad icon in this column indicates if Summary is current according to Takeoff entries. If the icon is shown unrestricted (), then the Summary is current and has been run on the latest Takeoff file. When is shown, it means the Takeoff file has been changed since the last time Summary was run (perhaps you or another user went back to make additional entries or change a quantity or price of an existing entry). You must re-run Summary to ensure it contains all of the information in the updated Takeoff file.

Estimate Pricing File ($): This column is an indication of whether or not the Summary contains the latest Estimate Prices. indicates it does; means you have made changes to the prices in a Combined Summary which automatically updates the Estimate Pricing File (re-run Summary to make sure the pricing is up-to-date), indicates that there are items that were priced with the NET button toggled in the ON position while in Summary.

Properties: This column indicates whether or not the Summary's properties have been changed since the Summary was run. indicates the Summary's properties are current and unchanged; means you have made changes to the properties of this Summary and it must be re-run to take those into account. See Properties in the Open Summary Editing Functions section for how to edit a Summary's properties.

Lock: A icon in this column indicates the Summary report is locked. This means the report cannot be updated nor the properties changed. The report can still be opened, however. See "Lock" in the Open Summary Editing Functions section for how to lock and unlock a report.

Notes: If appears in this column, then notes have been entered for this Summary. Applicable notes to include about a Summary might be if a change order has been applied or the details of an alternate Summary scenario. Notes are entered using Edit from the drop-down editing menu accessed with a single click of the secondary mouse button (see Open Summary Editing Functions).

Quote: A icon in this column indicates there is a quote available for import into the summary report. Multiple quotes are indicated by a icon. See Import QuoteI.

Summary: This is the Summary Name; a description of the Summary. This can be changed by clicking once with the secondary mouse button to display the editing drop-down menu. Select Edit to display the Edit Summary window. See Open Summary Editing Functions.

Date: The date and time the Summary was last run are shown in this field.

Note: These columns can be resized and rearranged. See Using the Grids.

Note:  If any Takeoff Notes were added during takeoff, they will appear above the breakout section.  In addition, if the summary is viewed by level breakout, the notes will break out according to section.
