There are a number of editing functions available in the Open Summary window. These allow you, among other things, to change a Summary description, delete a Summary, and determine in what order the Summaries are listed.
The editing menu is accessed by highlighting the Summary that you want to edit, copy, delete, or whose properties you want to view, then clicking once with the secondary mouse button. A drop-down menu appears.
EDIT: This selection lets you edit the information for the highlighted Summary. When you select Edit from the drop-down menu, the editing window displays.
Note: When multiple Summaries are selected, editing cannot be performed.
The “Edit Summary” window lets you enter a new name for the Summary and notes (e.g., if a change order has been issued, an explanation of the Summary settings). It also includes more detailed status information than appears in the Open Summary window: the dates the Summary was last run, when Takeoff was last changed, and when the Estimate Pricing File was last changed.
COPY: See the File topic. This command is only available when a single Summary is selected.
PASTE: See the File topic. The Paste command is only available when Copy has been used previously.
DELETE: Deletes the selected Summary or Summaries.
PROPERTIES: Accesses the Summary setup window where you can review the Summary's Pricing, Adjustments, Design Specs, Levels, and Level Adjustments (Report Type is not included). This allows you to see how the Summary was run and make changes.
Select to
save any changes you may have made (a prompt will display for you to confirm
that you want to change the properties of the summary report). If you
select
any changes you made will not be saved.
Notes:
|
IMPORT QUOTE: This function is used to return a quotation (REQ file) that has been priced back to its original summary file, in turn, pricing the items in summary. See Import Quote on for more information.
LOCK UPDATES: When
Lock
Updatesis
checked, the Summary Report cannot be updated and the properties cannot
be changed. The report can still be opened, however. When you select Lock
Updates, the program will display a prompt asking you to confirm
that you want this Summary locked (a similar prompt displays when you
unlock a Summary). When a Summary is locked, a is shown
in its Lock column in the Open Summary window.
LOCK EDITING: This
option allows users to make Summary reports read-only, so changes cannot
be inadvertently made to the report. This locking feature is separate
from theLock
Updatesoption. When checked,
a icon
is shown under the Lock column.
Note: If
both the Lock Updates and Lock Editing option or
checked for a Summary report, the
symbol will be displayed in the Lock column.
UNLOCK ALL: This option will remove any activated locks on the Summary report.
REFRESH: This function is mainly for users of a multi-user or network system. If another user deletes a Summary or runs a new Summary, you normally wouldn't see this in your view. The Refresh function "refreshes" the Open Summary window, updating it with the latest reports run by other users.
(right-click) UNDO UPDATE: Will reverse a recently applied update to the selected Summaries.
