You have different takeoff drawing tools, each represented
by an icon on the Takeoff sub-tool bar. Different tools will be appropriate
for different situations.
For information about "finishing" using a tool, see Takeoff Finishing Tools.
COUNT:
the
cursor is used when the Count function is active. Use to digitize count
items, like fixtures, switches or valves. Simply click once on the appropriate
spot on your plans to add a count item. See Count.
HOME
RUN: Use
to measure an entire conduit run, but "hide" the line so as
not to clutter the drawing. For example, if you have an electrical run
back to the breaker panel, you can use the Segmented Line (or Line 90
or Counts, etc.) to draw the line to the panel- including any drops, then
take off the line. Complete the Home Run and the symbol will display in
its place.
Select the Home Run symbol you want to use in Digital Takeoff > System Preferences > Colors & Tools tab.
When using the Home Run option, Estimating defaults to using the Segmented Line, but you can select any drawing tool you prefer.
To complete the Home Run:
Click the Home Run icon from the tool bar.
If you are currently drawing an annotation, right-click and select Finish & Complete Home Run.
If you are not currently drawing an annotation, right-click and select Complete Home Run.

CURVED LINE: this allows you to create a line that curves. Click the starting point of the line, then move the cursor to form thedesired curve. When done, right-click and choose one of the finishing options. See Curved Line.

TEXT: this allows you to add text notations to your plans. To use it, click on the spot on your plans where you wish to add text. Type the appropriate text in the Text Properties box and click OK. See Text.
