The program lets you take off items within a "level" (such as an installation code, drawing, etc.). Levels do not affect Takeoff or Summary, but you can print a special report listing all items taken off within each level.
All you have to do is, while you're taking off, specify where each level begins and ends. Edit the appropriate Option field to begin or end a level. While you are in a level, the Takeoff Options view indicates next to the level type the ID selected.
Note: You may set up a master Levels file in Data Files and/or Estimate Levels file in Estimate Files
There are several ways to activate/deactivate Levels:
Select the LEVELS key on the Takeoff Menu (right/closing parenthesis, ) )
Select
from the Takeoff toolbar
Select View > Active Levels from the menu bar
Double-click on the appropriate Level field in the Takeoff Options view.
The Select New Levels window box displays.
These are the Levels set up in the Estimate file. You can store up to 6 level types, each with 499 level records per Estimate. For each record you can store:
ID: 10 characters
Description: 60 characters (this can be the "from-to" description)
Multiplier, Material Factor, and Labor Factor
Select the
radio button of the level type, then highlight the level record you want
to use. More than 1 level type can be active, but only 1 level record
within a level type can be selected. Select OK
to return to Takeoff. The Takeoff Options display indicates the number
of levels you selected. These levels are in effect until you edit the
Levels field again.
Returns to
Takeoff. Any changes you made are not saved and if you selected a Level
it is not retained.
A click with the secondary mouse button on a level record produces an editing menu where a new level record can be added or the information for the highlighted level can be edited. Depending on your choice, either an Add or Edit window box displays. Figure 4-104 shows an edit window box for an installation code record.
Note: The first record, 0 None, cannot be edited.
Note: If you enter a sequence number (in the Level field) for which a level has not yet been set up, the Add window box displays so you can add a new level to that position.
The field to the right of the ID is the sequence number.
This defaults to the first available slot. If you want to place this new
level record at a different location, use to
display the available sequence numbers; make a selection.
Enter the appropriate information in each field. Use the Tab key to move from field to field. To complete the item click OK when finished. Selecting Cancel exits without saving any changes you may have made.
When you have finished taking off in this level, double-click on Levels to display the Select New Levels window box. Select another level or None to stop adding takeoff entries to that level. The Takeoff Options field no longer indicates the previous level(s); it will indicate either a new level or 0 Active.
You do not have to take off all items for a level at one time. You may end the level, continue takeoff, and come back to that level at any time just by selecting the appropriate level.
You can filter takeoff entries by level. See Filtering Takeoff.
Note: Levels can also
be selected using the PowerPad key cells through
. To clear the currently selected level, use
in the Select New Levels window box.
