Editing Multiple Items

To edit just a single field for an item or series of items, known as "column editing," select the item(s) you want to edit, then right-click the column header and select, Edit Column: Name (for example, if you want to edit the Category, select the items, right-click the Category column header, and select Edit Column: Category). You will be allowed to modify only the field on which you double-clicked. For example, if item sequence numbers 1 through 4 are selected and you double-click on the Quantity column, the Edit Quantity window displays. Select a new quantity of 6 and click OK. The Takeoff File Maintenance screen displays, showing a Size of 6 for all selected items.

This type of editing can be performed on the following fields: Category, Quantity, Levels, Material Factor, Labor Factor, Scale, and Multiplier.

When editing the Category for multiple items, if a Special Item is among those selected, the program prompts Change selected special's category? after the new Category is chosen. If you want selected Specials to be changed to the new Category, select Yes; if not, select No. If you select Cancel, the Category change is not made for any of the selected items.

Assemblies

The process is very similar when working with Assemblies. When the assembly header is selected and a new quantity is entered, the selected item will be changed to that new quantity and all remaining assembly items will be factored accordingly.

Editing an Assembly header behaves the same as using the Multiply selection and entering a factor, it just saves you from having to figure the proper factor amount. In this example, Multiply and a factor of 2 would be used.

For example, upon entering a quantity of 2 and selecting OK in the Edit Quantity window, Takeoff returns showing the new quantities for the items.  TN274.PNG (Since you have changed the quantity for the assembly header to 2 and used Set, all of the selected items' quantities are doubled Figure 4-63

The Undo function (Edit > Undo or ) can be used immediately following the procedure, if you decide not to make the modification.

When editing a factor column, choosing Set Entire Assembly will set any selected assembly and its sub-items to the entered value.
