Takeoff Drawing Tools - Finishing Tools
There are several ways to end a line or "Finish"
using a Digital Takeoff Tool. Different tools will be appropriate for
different situations. Access the finishing icons from the Takeoff
sub-tool bar, or the right-click menu when using the drawing tool.
Draw your line/add your symbol and then when you are
ready to finish the line or stop using that drawing tool, use one of the
following Finishing options:
- Press the appropriate
Takeoff Key - using this option allows you to continue using the tool.
Use of the tool ends when you select a finishing option from the right-click
menu or use a Finish option from the tool bar.
- Switch to Takeoff and
press the Takeoff Key - using this option allows you to continue using
the tool. Use of the tool ends when you select a finishing option
from the right-click menu or use a Finish option from the tool bar.
- Use the Right-click
menu: right-click > select the desired finishing option. Using
a Finish option from the right-click menu triggers the program to
end use of the tool.
- Finish: ends
the run or count and passes the quantity/length to Takeoff File
Maintenance to takeoff the item
- Finish w/Drop:
ends
the run of duct then passes the drop length specified in Digital
Takeoff, and an elbow (if checked) to Takeoff File Maintenance. When
you assign duct/pipe, the system also adds the vertical pipe installation
specified in the takeoff options. In Digital takeoff, it displays
the symbol from Preferences, Colors and Tools.
- Finish w/Rise:
ends
the run of duct then passes the drop length specified in Digital
Takeoff, and an elbow (if checked) to Takeoff File Maintenance. When
you assign duct/pipe, the system also adds the vertical pipe installation
specified in the takeoff options. In Digital takeoff, it displays
the symbol from Preferences, Colors and Tools.
- Finish w/Run: ends
the run of pipe/duct then passes the drop length specified in
Digital Takeoff, and an elbow (if checked) to Takeoff File Maintenance. When
you assign pipe/duct it will also add the horizontal pipe installation
specified in the takeoff options. In Digital takeoff,
it displays the symbol from Preferences, Colors and Tools.
The wording on the right-click menu changes depending on tool in use.
- Use one of the Finish options from the tool
bar (same as above). Using a Finish option from the right-click menu
triggers the program to end use of the tool.
If you have selected the Line Option for "Takeoff
Line and fitting" in the
Digital
Takeoff Preferences Settings, when you draw a line and finish
with a fitting, Estimating automatically takes off the duct and generates
a symbol for the fitting.
