General Options (Management Suite)

 

To insure that Estimating is configured to create the Management Suite XML file, follow the steps below:

1.   First, in the main Estimating screen, users must first go to File > Options > General Options.  The Options window will display.

2.   Select the Accounting Integration tab.

3.   If the Maxwell Management Suite option is not active, select it by clicking on the circle beside it.  Additional “Task Code Structure” options will appear on the right side of the window.  These options allow you to define the Task Code Structure you wish to use.

 

4.   Under “Task Code Structure” choose how many levels of breakout you wish to use for your cost codes.  If you choose two or more levels, further options become available that allow you to set each level’s field length.  You can also choose the source of each Task Code Segment via the Source fields.

Note: To illustrate how the field lengths work, consider the following Closedexample.  The Mask field will change depending on  the entries in the breakdown and length fields.

If a user sets up a Two Level Breakout with the first Level Field Lengths set to 2 (the program will auto-set the 2nd Field Length to 7); the levels would be interpreted in the following way:

 

 

Therefore, using this example, the program will look for the first two digits in a Task Code to determine its Header: a general grouping of items (i.e. 01 = General Conditions).  Afterward, the program will move on to read the next seven digits of the code to determine the Sub-item: the specific item listed under the general grouping (i.e. 010200200 = Permits).

 

 

When finished, click OK to close the Options window.
