Level Adjustment Examples

Example 1

As you begin Takeoff, you set-up a Section with a Material Factor of 4.00 and a Labor Factor of 4.00 (in the Open Section window). However, you take off items with Material Factor and Labor Factor both set to 1.00. If you edit the item in takeoff, its Material Factor and Labor Factor both show 1.00 because the factors set in the Open Sections window only take effect in Summary. After you take off several items, you edit item 5339 to a Material Factor of 7.00, leaving Labor Factor at 1.00. The chart below shows how the adjustments are calculated when you run a Summary with Section level adjustments on.

Example 2

This example uses the same Takeoff item examples as Example 1, however, this time, you set-up an Estimate Subtotal with a Material Adjustment and Labor Adjustment of 2 with the percent operation (in Estimates > Estimate File Maintenance > Subtotals). The chart below shows how the adjustments are calculated when you run a Summary with Subtotal level adjustments on.

Example 3

This example uses the same Takeoff item examples as Example 1, in addition to the Section factors and the Subtotal adjustments. The chart below shows how the Section factors and the Subtotal adjustments are applied when you run a Summary with both Section and Subtotal level adjustments on.

As the chart shows, the Section adjustments are applied first (Section Material Factor and Labor Factor multiplied by the Takeoff item Material Factor and Labor Factor). Then, the Subtotal adjustments are applied to those results.
