Depending on where you live, your Tax Authorities may include Federal, State, County, and Local governments. You will also want to set up out-of-state and international Tax Authorities that may come into effect as you place orders and ship merchandise.
Note: In the United States, taxes are based on location. The examples herein assume a United States taxing system. In other parts of the world, taxes may be based on other criteria such as types of material.
When you first receive MEP Estimating, the Tax Authorities file will be empty. You must build it from scratch, adding your tax authorities using the Add function.
1. Select the Tax Authority tab.
2. Select
to access the New Tax Authority window.
SHORT NAME: An abbreviation for the Tax Authority name; limited to 20 characters.
NAME: The full name of the Tax Authority. A maximum of 80 characters is allowed.
Each of the Tax Authority "pages" are standard information setup pages that are common throughout Estimating. For information about the General, Contacts, and Locations pages, see General Maintenance.
When you
select OK the new tax authority
is added to the file and is placed at the appropriate place according
to the current sort order.
The new record is not
added.
Note: Once a Tax Authority has been created, the Short Name and Name fields can be edited from the grid.
